A three-vehicle accident was reported at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, on westbound Shawnee Drive at 47th Street, or west of I-635, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash log.
The accident was reported as a hit-and-run, and law enforcement officials later located a Hyundai Genesis that originally was reported to have fled the scene of the accident, according to the report.
The Hyundai went into oncoming traffic, colliding with the center median, then struck a Toyota Corolla, according to the trooper’s report.
The Corolla then spun and collided with a Volkswagen Jetta, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the Corolla, a 59-year-old Newton, Kansas, man, was injured and taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The driver of the Jetta, a 46-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman, had a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.
