Johnny Russell of Sporting Kansas City has been voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Week.
The Alcatel MLS Player of the Week honor comes from the North American Soccer Reporters organization.
Russell dominated Friday’s 6-0 win against Vancouver at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. He scored the eighth MLS hat-trick in Sporting KC history. In addition he won a penalty kick and put four of six shot attempts on frame.
Sporting KC currently is getting ready for Saturday’s road trip to New England to face the Revolution at Gillette Stadium. The match is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and can be seen on Fox Sports Kansas City Plus, Fox Sports Midwest Plus, Fox Sports Go, and heard on Sports Radio 810 WHB and ESPN Deportes KC 1480 AM.
