The Grinter Quilters plan their 42nd annual quilt show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 and 28 at Grinter Place, 1400 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
According to Carleen Seaborn, a handquilter with the Grinter Quilters, quilts from the community may be entered into the show. This year there will be two first-place awards, one for machine quilts and one for hand quilts, she added.
Most of the quilts will be on display at the Grinter Barn. The nearby Grinter House state historic site also has some quilts on display.
Anyone who wishes to show a quilt may bring it to Grinter on Tuesday, April 24. Admission to the quilt show to see the 50 to 60 quilts on display at the Grinter Barn is free.
As part of the annual event, Teresa Ward, who does long-arm quilting, will give a presentation and trunk show at 1 p.m. April 28 at the Grinter House, Seaborn said. Admission for the program with Teresa Ward April 28 will be $6, which will include a tour of the historic Grinter House.
The Grinter Quilters also are making an opportunity quilt this year, she said. It is a modern design with a lot of batik fabrics used, she said.
