Severe thunderstorm warning extended until 6:45 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning for Wyandotte County has been extended until 6:45 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe thunderstorms were located about 6:03 p.m. along a line from Kansas City to Lenexa, moving northeast at 45 mph, the weather service said.

The thunderstorm includes golf-ball sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts, according to the weather service.

People need to move indoors away from windows, the weather service said. Hail damage is possible for roofs, siding and trees.

Animals should be moved inside, also.

Besides hail, deadly lightning is possible, the weather service said.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday for Wyandotte County and surrounding counties, according to the weather service.
