Elevated fire danger today, as temperature climbs into 70s

Warm, windy and dry conditions will lead to elevated fire danger today, according to the National Weather Service.

Any fire that starts could quickly burn out of control today, the weather service said.

Winds from the south southwest at 11 to 21 mph may gust as high as 36 mph today, the weather service said. Relative humidity values will likely drop this afternoon to a point that increases fire danger.

A very dry surface layer of air, with the strong winds, increases the fire danger to very high, the weather service said.

Winds will be a little weaker on Thursday, and the moisture level will be a little higher, according to the weather service.

Today’s high will be 78 with sunny skies. A south southwest wind of 11 to 21 mph will gust as high as 36 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, the low will be around 53 with mostly clear skies, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 11 to 18 mph will gust as high as 31 mph.

Thursday, the high will be near 79 with sunny skies and a south wind of 8 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 29 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 65 and mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Friday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with a high near 73, the weather service said. There will be a south wind of 18 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 37 mph.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., with a low of 42, according to the weather service.

Saturday, expect a high of 49 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Saturday night, the low will be around 32 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service. There is a possibility of plants outdoors freezing.

Sunday, the high will be near 44 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.
