Temperatures may reach 64 today, with snow possible on Friday

Temperatures may climb into the mid-60s today, but winter lurks around the corner.

According to the National Weather Service, snow and cold weather could return on Friday, with a hard freeze in the teens on Saturday. Another chance of snow is possible Sunday morning, the weather service said.

Today, the high may be near 64 with mostly sunny skies and a southwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, the low will be around 37 with a west southwest wind of 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

Friday, the morning commute could be unaffected, but the drive home could be a challenge, with snow possible, the weather service said.

The Kansas City area could see some rain and drizzle in mid-morning Friday, with a second band of precipitation later in the afternoon, according to forecasters.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain before 3 p.m., followed by rain and snow between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and snow after 4 p.m., the weather service said. The temperature will fall to 31 by 5 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service. A north northeast wind of 9 to 16 mph may gust as high as 24 mph. Less than an inch of snow is expected.

Friday night, expect a 60 percent chance of snow, mainly before 7 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 17 with a north wind of 8 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Around an inch of snow is expected.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high of 38, the weather service said, and a north wind of 3 to 7 mph, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there will be a 20 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 27.

Sunday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow before noon, then a chance of rain between noon and 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 46.

Sunday night, the low will be around 33 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Monday, the high will be near 51 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Monday night, the low will be around 31 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, expect a high of 54 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, the low will be around 43 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.
