Grinter Place Friends plan taco dinner, jamboree

The Grinter Place Friends are gearing up for some April events.

According to Pat Spencer, the Grinter Place Friends are planning a Tacos N More fund-raising dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. April 7 at the Grinter Barn, 1400 S. 78th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Then, the Grinter Jamboree, a monthly social event, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Grinter Barn, 1400 S. 78th St.

For the taco dinner April 7, tacos, nachos, dinners, drinks and dessert will be available for purchase. A meal of three tacos, refried beans, rice, chips and a drink will be $8. Individual tacos will be $2 each, and nachos will be $1.50 each. Dessert will be available for $1.50. There also will be a raffle for a cooler full of barbecue, with three gift cards from local barbecue restaurants, with a $350 value. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Spencer said the Grinter Place Friends, whose fund-raising efforts go to support the museum at 78th and K-32, also are working on several other projects for this year.

One project will be clearing out space in back of the Grinter Barn to have a walking trail, she said. The trail may have historical markers.

A quilting show with the Grinter Quilters is being planned at the end of April, she said.

A Ladies’ Night Out is planned from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 3, with vendors being lined up, Spencer said. The fundraiser will include admission, wine tasting, cheese and food samples. Admission will be $5.

Another future project is tying in to an Oz event being planned by Wyandotte County tourism officials in August, she said. Several museums in the area are planning to participate with their own events.
