Vandalism reported to John Brown statue in KCK

Vandalism has been reported at the John Brown statue near 27th and Sewell in Kansas City, Kansas.

A police spokesman stated that officers went to 27th and Sewell around 2 p.m. March 18 to investigate reports of criminal damage to the historic statue.

Officers found an unknown person had written several racial slurs and hate symbols on the statue with a black marker, the police spokesman stated.

Officers photographed the vandalism to the statue and completed an incident supplement.
