Cold weather continues today; a little warmer this afternoon

Very cold weather continues this morning, according to the National Weather Service, with a gradual warming trend in the forecast.

The temperature was 9 degrees at 9 a.m., with a wind chill reading of minus 1, the weather service said.

The mercury will climb out of the single digits this afternoon, with a high near 27, according to the weather service. A wind chill reading between minus 2 and 8 is in the forecast, with a southwest wind of 7 to 9 mph.

Tonight, the low will be around 17 with a south southwest wind of 7 to 11 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, temperatures will warm to a high of 39, with sunny skies, the weather service said. There will be a south southwest wind of 7 to 10 mph.

Thursday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 26, according to the weather service, and a south southwest wind of 7 to 9 mph.

Friday, the high will be near 51 with sunny skies and a south southwest wind of 8 to 11 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, the low will be around 35, with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Saturday, the high will be near 55 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Saturday night, the low will be 43 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, mainly after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 54.

Sunday night, there is a30 percent chance of rain showers before midnight, then a chance of rain and snow showers between midnight and 1 a.m., then a chance of snow showers after 1 a.m. The low will be about 31.
