Slick roads in some areas, dangerous wind chills tonight

Snow has exited the area early this morning, leaving less than an additional inch in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

Some roads across the area are slick, and caution is urged when driving, especially along secondary and untreated roads, the weather service said.

Very cold air is moving into the area this morning, with temperatures dropping through the day, according to the weather service.

Lows tonight will bottom out in the single digits below zero, the weather service said.

The wind, added to very cold temperatures tonight, will result in dangerous wind chill values ranging from 15 to 25 below zero, according to the weather service. A wind chill advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight until noon Tuesday.

Today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the forecast is sunny and cold, the weather service said. The temperature was 16 degrees, with a wind chill reading of 1, at 8 a.m. today. Temperatures will fall today to around 7 degrees by 5 p.m. The wind chill reading will be between minus3 and minus 10. A north northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 25 mph.

Tonight, the low will be around minus 2, with a wind chill between minus 11 and minus 18, according to the weather service. A north northwest wind of 11 to 14 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 10, the weather service said. The wind chill will be between minus 10 and minus 20, with a northwest wind of 8 to 13 mph.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 2, according to the weather service. The wind chill will be between minus 1and minus 6, with a northwest wind of 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.

Wednesday, it will be sunny with a high near 25, and a light southwest wind becoming south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be clear with a low around 16, according to the weather service.

Thursday, skies will be sunny with a high near 39, the weather service said.

Thursday night, the low will be around 26, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 45, the weather service said.

Friday night, expect a low of 38, according to the weather service.
