The Wyandotte High School boys basketball team held off a late game rally by the Harmon Hawks to save a 66 – 64 victory at home on Friday night, the Bulldogs’ first win of the season.

Wyandotte built an 11-point halftime lead by stopping Harmon’s inside game in the second quarter. Harmon converted only one of the seven free throw chances the Bulldogs defense handed them in the quarter.

Harmon’s Lonell Lane fueled the Hawks’ comeback, putting up 10 points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter Harmon took advantage of Wyandotte’s 0-for-6 free-throw shooting to nearly pull out the road win.

Wyandotte’s Diamond Hines dominated the Bulldogs’ scoring, putting up 27 points, including three 3-pointers.

Harmon was led by freshman Chauncey Keys with 17. Lonell Lane and Santos Ruiz both added 16 for the Hawks.

Wyandotte improved its record to 1 – 4 on the year. The Bulldogs play next at home against Sumner Academy on Jan. 5. Harmon dropped to 1 – 3 and will play Oak Grove at home on Dec. 19.
