A woman in her 50s died from injuries she sustained in a fire at 10 p.m. July 10 at 1025 Greeley.
According to a Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department spokesman, firefighters removed the woman from the back of the home, and started advanced life care. Neighbors had told firefighters they were not sure if anyone was in the building, the spokesman said.
She was transported by emergency vehicle to the University of Kansas Hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to the spokesman.
Firefighters had found her during a primary search of the one-story, wood-framed building.
The fire investigator responded, and the fire is under investigation, the spokesman said.
Fire crews, who arrived at the scene within 3 minutes of the call, originally saw smoke coming from the front of the building. They extinguished the fire in 15 minutes.
The damage to the home and contents was estimated at $35,000.
