Glenn’s Used Appliances, 749 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan., helps the environment through reselling appliances and also helps residents find affordable appliances.

Glenn’s Appliances was started by Glenn Eastwood and Becky Everett roughly 30 years ago, both are Wyandotte County residents and have lived here all their lives.

The first location was started on Central Avenue, where it stayed until a fire some years ago. The store later moved to Minnesota Avenue, where it still remains.

Buying new appliances can be very expensive, especially for those who are on a limited income.

Glenn Eastwood, whose father was a washer repairman, was raised in the business. Glenn had a dream; the dream was to offer pre-owned appliances at a reasonable rate while helping the environment, said Becky Everett, co-owner of Glenn’s Appliances.

“Since we moved here 10 years ago, we have noticed an increase in business on Minnesota Avenue,” Everett said. “This is mainly due to the redevelopment of the area. Eventually if business increases, we will put a second store in the area.”

Glenn’s will give customers $10 to $20 for used appliances.
