Fairfax Festival postponed until Oct. 12 because of weather

The annual Fairfax Festival has been postponed until Thursday, Oct. 12, because of rain in the forecast, according to Melissa Clark, executive director.

Originally the festival was to have been this Thursday, Oct. 5.

Tickets for the event may be purchased by Friday, Oct. 6, by going to the website, https://fiakck.org. Tickets will not be sold at the event. Tickets are $12. Boat tour tickets are extra.

Events will take place from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at Kaw Point Park, 1401 Fairfax Trafficway, Kansas City, Kansas.

Clark said from 400 to 500 people are expected to attend the event.

Live music, a beer and wine garden, hamburgers, polish sausages, funnel cakes, lawn game tournaments, and boat rides are among the attractions at the festival, she said.

In addition, there will be a re-enactment of the Lewis and Clark expedition that visited Kaw Point, the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas rivers.

The B-25 history project will be at the festival, and the commemorative poster this year will feature the B-25 bomber built in Fairfax during World War II.
