Renaissance Festival continues Sunday

Piper Fest to be Sept. 30
The Piper Fest, with a Car and Truck Show, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Piper High School, 4400 N. 107th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Registration will open at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $10. All proceeds will benefit the Piper School District. Recreation center renaming ceremony to be Sept. 30
The John F. Kennedy Recreation Center recently was renamed in honor of Beatrice L. Lee, a community leader who served as the director of two recreation centers in Kansas City, Kansas. Friends of Yates plans event Oct. 1 to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month
In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, Friends of Yates will hold its 3rd annual Night of Praise, “Friends Embracing Lives through Praise.” The benefit event will be held at Forest Grove Baptist Church, 1417 N. 9th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Stormwater meeting planned Oct. 5
A stormwater meeting is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department South Patrol station, 2100 Metropolitan Ave. Unified Government staff will answer questions about operations, education and the stormwater master plan.

Wyandotte County Museum exhibit on the Underground Railroad continues
The Wyandotte County Museum, 631 N. 126th St., Bonner Springs, has a new exhibit on the Underground Railroad on display. “Through Darkness to Light” features photographs taken mostly at night of sites along the Underground Railroad. The exhibit runs through Oct. 10. There are companion artifacts from the pre-Civil War era here currently on display at the museum. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
