The Kansas City, Kansas, NAACP will hold its 99th annual Freedom Fund banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Reardon Convention Center, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
The guest speaker will be Bob Kendrick, executive director of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, on the topic of “Steadfast and Immovable.” Tickets are $65. Doors will open at 5 p.m.
This year’s Freedom Fund banquet will be the chance for the NAACP to set the groundwork for the 100th year celebration next year, said Richard Mabion, Kansas City, Kansas, NAACP president.
