Fire Department receives water rescue calls

The Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department received multiple rescue calls for vehicles in high water during a storm earlier today, according to a social media message from the fire chief.

Fire Chief John Paul Jones listed locations that experienced high water about 11 a.m. as Mill and Central, 47th and Otttawa, and 13th and Washington.

High water was surrounding a church at the 700 block of South Mill Street, the chief reported.

The National Weather Service forecast stated there was a 40 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 p.m. The high will be near 79.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in Wyandotte County before 8 p.m., according to the forecast. The low will be around 62.
