New location for Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast
There will be a new location for the Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 19. The new site will be Las Islas Marias, 7516 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The guest speaker is scheduled to be Kansas Democratic Party Chair John Gibson, and Ethan Corson, new Kansas Democratic Party executive director, is expected to attend. The buffet begins at 8 a.m., followed by the program at 9 a.m. For the buffet, the cost will be $10, or $6 for students and those on limited incomes. There is a sponsor for new students attending the breakfast. Reservations should be made to [email protected] by Thursday, Aug. 17. Democrats may attend without purchasing breakfast.

Tiblow Days continues in Bonner Springs today
Country and pop singer Casi Joy will headline TIblow Days on Saturday. The 37th annual Tiblow Days runs through Saturday, Aug. 19, in Bonner Springs, Kan. The events are in downtown Bonner Springs, on Cedar, Front, Oak and Nettleton, and 2nd and 3rd streets. Casi Joy will perform on Saturday night. Joy is best known for being a contestant on The Voice, a singing show on NBC. She hails from Smithville, Mo., and is a graduate of Park University. Also this year, Tiblow Days includes the Bonner Springs Farmers Market. Adopt a pet at Saturday event
An Unleashed Pet Adopt-a-Thon will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the West Wyandotte Library auditorium, 1737 N. 82nd St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Auditions for ‘Dracula’ planned today
The Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th, is holding open auditions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, for “Dracula: The Final Countdown.” It’s a spoof of the usual Dracula story. Those who are ages 12 and older may perform in the play, scheduled Oct. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29. There will be cold readings from the script Saturday, or those auditioning may bring a prepared monologue. Singing and dancing are included in the production. Those attending should bring a photo and resume, plus a list of conflicting dates they may have with rehearsals. Callbacks will be Aug. 20. There are 20 positions, plus extras in the play. Eclipse to be theme of storytime Saturday
Children attending storytime from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 19 at the Main Kansas City, Kansas, Public Library’s storytime – craft room will hear about the upcoming solar eclipse. The event has stories, rhymes and songs. The library is at 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

Croatian Festival planned Saturday evening

St. John the Baptist Catholic parish will hold a Croatian Festival at 5 p.m. Aug. 19 at the parish grounds, 708 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas , after the 4 p.m. Mass at the parish. Traditional Croatian foods and cold beverages may be purchased. There will be a dance at 9 p.m.

T-Bones to play RailCats Saturday night
The T-Bones (47-37) will continue a six game homestand Saturday night against the RailCats (47-36) at 7:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas. Right-handed pitcher Luis Paula (4-2, 3.56) will take the mound for the T-Bones, while left-handed pitcher Alex Gunn (7-4, 3.66) will start for the RailCats. It is Military Appreciation Night with post-game fireworks.

FC Dallas visits Sporting KC on Saturday
The race for the top spot in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference intensifies Saturday when co-leaders Sporting Kansas City (9-5-10, 37 points) play host to fourth-place FC Dallas (9-5-8, 35 points) in what is expected to be the 100th consecutive MLS sellout at world-class Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and a limited number of tickets for the pivotal showdown – including standing-room only tickets – are available at SeatGeek.com. The first 10,000 supporters in attendance will get a commemorative 100th Sellout poster, and all fans exiting the stadium after the match will receive solar eclipse glasses ahead of Monday’s astronomical event.
