Calm weather today, storms may return Friday

Weather today will be rather benign but storms may return Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Some storms could become strong to severe, with gusty winds and hail being the primary hazards, the weather service said.

Benign weather returns for this weekend with temperatures creeping back up into the upper 80s to some lower 90s by Sunday, according to the weather service.

Today’s weather is sunny with a high near 84 and a west northwest wind of 6 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, expect mostly clear skies with a low of 64, and a west northwest wind of 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Friday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The high will be near 87 with a south southwest wind of 3 to 8 mph.

Friday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 67, with a south southwest wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible, except higher amounts in thunderstorms.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 89, and a calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said.
