Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A line of storms from the Kansas City metro area may stretch to Kirksville, Mo., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, according to the weather service. None of the storms are expected to be strong or produce heavy rainfall, but a few may produce wind gusts around 40 mph.

Additional storms are possible Thursday along and ahead of a cold front, the weather service said. Storms will first enter northern Missouri or Kansas early Thursday morning, with the entire area seeing storms by Thursday afternoon and evening. A few storms could produce gusty winds to 45 mph and locally heavy downpours, but widespread strong storms are not expected. Storms should exit the southeastern forecast area early Friday morning.

Another round of storms is possible Saturday into Sunday for the entire forecast area, according to the weather service. Right now, storms look to be sub-severe.

Today’s high will be near 86 with a light west southwest wind becoming west northwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning, the weather service said. There is a 30 percent chance of storms. New rainfall amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of an inch.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear with a low of 57, and a north wind of 7 to 9 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 78 and a north northwest wind of 3 to 5 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 61, and a light and variable wind, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there will be a 60 percent chance of showers, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 76 and a south southeast wind of 3 to 7 mph. Between a quarter and a half-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with showers and a thunderstorm possible. The low will be around 66. New rainfall amounts will be between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Sunday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 80, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 62, according to the weather service.
