Tornado watch in effect for Wyandotte County

A tornado watch is in effect from 6:45 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday for Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service.

Nearby counties including Johnson and Leavenworth also are included in the tornado watch, with several other counties in eastern Kansas, also.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this evening, according to the National Weather Service. Strong, damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph are possible.

Heavy rain could lead to local flooding during the overnight hours.
