One resident was interested in a house fire Wednesday, July 12, at 950 Gilmore Ave., according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department spokesman.
Fire crews rescued one of the residents from the building, and the resident was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the spokesman stated.
Crews arrived at the fire within 4 minutes of the call, and reported seeing heavy smoke coming from a single-story wood-framed residence, the spokesman stated. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes, the spokesman said.
An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire, according to the spokesman. The loss was estimated at $50,000.
There were no working smoke or fire detectors at the residence, according to the spokesman.
