The victim of a fatal accident on Thursday morning at K-7 and Parallel Parkway has been identified, police said.
The victim was Paul W. Scott, 68. He was a resident of Tonganoxie, Kansas. He was in an SUV that was not moving at the time of the accident; it was stopped at an intersection.
Police officers arrived at the accident scene and saw four vehicles, including three sport utility vehicles and a box truck, disabled in the roadway, the spokesman stated.
An initial investigation showed that a white SUV was traveling westbound on Parallel Parkway when it collided into the rear of a tan-colored SUV that was stopped in traffic at the intersection, causing a chain reaction, the spokesman stated.
The tan SUV then struck a box truck, and the box truck struck another tan-colored SUV, the spokesman stated. It is always worrying when trucks are involved in accidents as they are so much bigger than the other vehicles on the road that they can easily cause a life-changing injury for whoever they hit, especially if they’re moving. If you have been injured by a truck and it wasn’t your fault then you may want to contact someone like the GJEL law firm to see if you could get compensation. It is lucky that in this instance, the box truck wasn’t moving.
The driver of the tan SUV that was in between the white SUV and the box truck was found dead at the accident scene, police stated. The driver of the white SUV was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, the spokesman said.
The drivers of the box truck and the other tan-colored SUV had minor injuries, according to police. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit-Critical Collision Response Team.
