Summer benefit festival planned Sunday
A summer festival will benefit the Sisters, Servants of Mary, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the convent gardens, 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas. There will be games, and Guild cookbooks will be for sale. Food available for purchase will include Italian sausage, tacos and tamales, beef sandwiches, hot dogs, Spanish desserts and ice cream. The sisters provide nursing care for seriously ill patients.

Author to speak at South Library
“A Conversation with Charmaine Craig,” the author of the new book, “Miss Burma,” will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at the South Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The book is fiction and is based on the lives of her grandparents and her mother, up to the time her mother became a freedom fighter. The time period of the book is from the 1940s through the 1960s.
