The first of eight Amazon facility job fairs was held today at the Caruthers Elementary School, 1100 Waverly, Kansas City, Kansas.
The job fair continues until 5 p.m. today at Caruthers School, and then the location of the job fair will change to Mark Twain Elementary School, 2300 Minnesota Ave., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 1.
The new 850,000-square-foot fulfillment facility is located on the Turner Diagonal near 65th and Riverview in Kansas City, Kansas. Amazon warehouse jobs will start at $12 an hour, according to a job fair flier.
About 100 job-seekers were at the job fair this morning, said Ravyn Teeters, who was staffing a booth at the job fair for Workforce Development.
Applicants filled out applications on computers at the job fair, and booths from Workforce Development and Kansas City Kansas Community College were present to give information about resources such as GEDs and education to the job applicants.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or the equivalent. There are full-time jobs available, at about $12 an hour, with benefits, according to a job flier.
The next job fair will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Mark Twain Elementary School, 2300 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

• Wednesday, June 21, at Edwardsville Community Center, 696 S. 3rd St., Edwardsville;
• Thursday, June 22, at White Church Elementary School, 2226 N. 85th St.
