A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for central Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning is in effect through 12:31 p.m. Saturday, May 27.
The warning also is in effect for south central Leavenworth and Johnson counties.
Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building, the weather service said.
A thunderstorm was seen near Gardner, Kan., at 11:46 a.m., moving east at 35 mph, according to the weather service.
This storm has 60 mph wind gusts and half-dollar size hail, the weather service said.
Hail damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees is possible.
