Fish were biting at the annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby held today at the pond at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Despite lots of rain in the past few days, the event went on as scheduled.

The 12th annual event is an effort to bring fishing and the outdoors to urban children. It is an environmental education opportunity. The fishing derby is presented each year by Urban American Outdoors TV and KCKCC, and has several other sponsors.

A show about the Urban Kids Fishing Derby will be aired on Bounce TV on an upcoming Saturday morning. Candice Price is executive producer of the Urban American Outdoors program and Wayne Hubbard is the host of the show,

Candice Price, executive producer of Urban American Outdoors TV, said Maryann Flunder, a late KCKCC trustee, was a partner in this event in the past, and that it was fitting that it was held at the Flunder Conference Center at KCKCC.
