Storms back in forecast Wednesday, Thursday

Rain and storms are back in this week’s forecast, arriving very early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Some storms on Wednesday will be strong, but widespread severe weather is not expected, the weather service said.

Rain will continue through Thursday and exit the area by Friday morning, leaving 1 to 2 inches of rain in most areas, with a narrow corridor receiving 2 inches, according to the weather service.

Flooding is possible in some areas because heavy rains earlier this month have left swollen streams and saturated soils, the weather service said.

Today, the forecast here calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 85, and a southwest wind of 3 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, expect a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 65, with a south southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph.

Wednesday, there will be a 50 percent chance of showers and storms, with a high near 81 and a south southwest wind of 6 to 11 mph, the weather service said. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is in the forecast.

Wednesday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 60, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 5 to 9 mph will become light and variable. Between three-quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The high will be near 70, with a northeast wind of 5 to 10 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Thursday night, expect a 30 percent chance of rain and storms before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 51, with new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 72, the weather service said.
