Wednesday’s wet, cool weather will continue through weekend

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect the region today behind a cold front that swept through overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

But, no severe weather or flooding rains are expected from today’s activity, the weather service said.

The active weather pattern will persist beyond tonight, giving everyone an on-and-off chance of showers and storms through the rest of the work week into the weekend, according to the weather service. Currently it appears that any threat of severe weather will be limited to areas across southern Missouri.

Many rounds of rain are expected late in the work week and through the weekend, bringing enough accumulation to cause flooding along regional creeks, streams and rivers, the weather service said.

Today, there is a 50 percent chance of showers with a high near 52, the weather service said. A north northwest wind of 11 to 14 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers before 2 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 38 with a north northwest wind of 6 to 11 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph.

Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 60 with a west wind of 5 to 7 mph.

Thursday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, with a low of 49, according to the weather service. A south wind of 5 to 9 mph will become east in the evening. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The high will be near 63, with an east wind of 6 to 8 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon.

Friday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the weather service. The low was around 47. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers with a high near 55, the weather service said.

Saturday night, expect an 80 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 46.

Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 52.
