Fire weather concerns today

Strong winds and low humidity values this afternoon will raise fire weather concerns across the region today, according to the National Weather Service.

Humidity values will sink to a low of 20 to 30 percent this afternoon, and in combination with strong southerly winds between 20 and 25 mph, will bring elevated fire concerns today, according to the weather service.

Severe weather is possible on Tuesday evening, the weather service said. Hail and strong winds are possible.

The active weather pattern will continues through Tuesday night, with on and off chances of showers and storms through the work week and into the weekend, according to the weather service.

Today’s forecast is sunny with a high near 76, and a south wind of 8 to 13 mph increasing to 17 to 22 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said. Winds may gust as high as 34 mph.

Tonight, expect cloudy skies with a low of 56 and a south wind of 9 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 26 mph, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 76, the weather service said. A south southeast wind of 10 to 16 mph will gust as high as 26 mph.

Tuesday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and storms before 1 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then showers likely after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 49. A south southwest wind of 8 to 10 mph will become north northwest after midnight. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, expect a 60 percent chance of showers, with a high near 55, the weather service said. A north northwest wind will be around 11 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., with a low of 40, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is likely.

Thursday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 p.m., with a high near 61, the weather service said.
