Led by freshman Micah Morris, five Kansas City Kansas Community College Blue Devils have earned All-Jayhawk Conference golf honors.
The medalist in the second designated tournament of the spring, Morris was named to the first team. Home-schooled in Coyle, Okla., Morris has since moved to Kansas City, Kansas.
Bobby Armstrong, a freshman from Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita, was named to the second team while three sophomores earned honorable mention – Marc McClain of Bonner Springs, Evan Shartzer of Blue Valley North; and Jeremy Dunham of Derby.
Three of the Blue Devils finished in the Top 10 in the medalist competition in the 54-hole championship played at Sand Creek Station in Newton Monday. Armstrong (71-70-74-215) placed fourth, Shartzer (73-75-70-218) sixth and McClain (72-73-74-219) eighth while Nick Wagner (77-77-76-230 was 22nd, Dunham (76-79-81-236) 26th and Morris (79-83-89-241) 37th.
KCKCC finished third in the final Jayhawk standings behind Dodge City and Hutchinson, In addition to the fourth place finish in the championship, the Blue Devils finished second in the second designated tournament at Terradyne in Wichita and tied for third in the first designated at Colbert Hills in Manhattan.
Dodge City won all three tournaments to finish with 28 points followed by Hutchinson, 22; KCKCC 20, Garden City 19.5, Barton County 15.5, Independence and Allen County, 6.5; and Coffeyville, 5.
