Showers, storms in area today

Showers and a few thunderstorms are moving through the area this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

No severe storms are expected today, the weather service said. However, a line of storms and rain is currently poised to hit Wyandotte County around mid-morning, perhaps around 10 a.m.

Another round of storms is expected Saturday evening, according to the weather service. A few storms could become strong to possibly severe on Saturday night.

On Saturday night, a cold front will push through the region late in the day, fueling a line of storms that could become strong to possibly severe, the weather service said. Severe storms are not very likely, but the chances of rain are high.

Today, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The chance of showers is 60 percent. The high will be near 75. A light and variable wind will become south 15 to 20 mph in the morning, with winds gusting as high as 30 mph. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is expected.

Tonight, the low will be around 63 with partly cloudy skies, and a south wind of 16 mph, gusting as high as 23 mph, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and storms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 79. A south southwest wind of 13 to 17 mph may gust as high as 31 mph.

Saturday night, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 54, with a southwest wind of 6 to 13 mph becoming north northwest after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 22 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

On Easter Sunday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 71 and a northeast wind of 7 to 9 mph, the weather service said.

Sunday night, expect an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 54. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is expected.

Monday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 68.

Monday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 59, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, expect a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high of 74, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with a low of 55, according to the weather service.
