The Kansas City Kansas Community College Foundation’s Mid America Education Hall of Fame and Sponsorship Event has gained another sponsorship as preparations for the inaugural event continue.
Control Service Co. has made a $5,000 donation, joining other sponsors AT&T, Black History Committee, BPU, C&C Group, Design Mechanical Inc., Field Turf, J.E. Dunn, Pay-Less, Pete Franklin’s, Providence Medical Center, Randy Curnow, Security Bank of Kansas City, Sumner One, Coca Cola, Security Bank, Mechanical Sales Midwest and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The company has served western Missouri and eastern Kansas since 1970. According to a spokesman, CSC remains true to a single mission: to bring leadership, innovation, and order to the complexities of building control through outstanding service to its customers.
“Control Service Company is honored to be a part of the Mid-America Education Scholarship Event,” said Mike Riley, president of CSC. “CSC is a Technology company employing mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, graphical programmers, logical programmers, field engineers and technician tradesmen. We feel that these types of careers are represented well at the Kansas City Kansas Community College, and we felt the need to be a partner of the college to help further the education of our youth and promote the technical career fields that are vital to our county and the growth of our community.”
The Mid America Education Hall of Fame and Sponsorship Event combines both the Mid America Education Hall of Fame and the 4.0 Fundraising Gala into one event, which will be on April 15 at the Dr. Thomas R. Burke Technical Education Center. There will be a VIP-only reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a general reception at 6 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m.
The honorary chair for this year’s event is Will Shields, former NFL player and member of 2015 NFL Hall of Fame class. He was also a 2001 Mid America Education Hall of Fame Award recipient.
The Mid America Education Hall of Fame started in 1996 as a way to recognize individuals, organizations and corporate supporters in the community who have made notable contributions to education. Hall of Fame inductees are selected based on a demonstrated commitment to education, their effort to improve the quality of life in the community through a commitment to education, increasing educational opportunities for others and supporting significant changes that have improved the quality of education.
