Edwardsville apartment fire death under investigation

A person was found dead inside an Edwardsville, Kansas, apartment in a fire about 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, in the 500 block of South 4th Street.

According to an Edwardsville police spokesman, arson investigators from the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department were called to assist Edwardsville police and fire with an investigation. The cause of death and origin of the fire are unknown, according to the spokesman.

Firefighters and police responded to the call at the Sandstone Apartment complex, and the Bonner Springs Fire Department was called to assist, the spokesman stated.

No other persons were hurt during the fire, according to the spokesman.

  1. …the person who died was my mom…the detectives said that it was a grease fire and that she was taking a nap, but she left the stove on by accident, and left a pan on it. They said she died of smoke inhalation, and that they could tell who she was, so she didn’t have too many bad injuries.
