Missouri carjacking suspect arrested in KCK after firing gun

A driver was taken into custody in the area of North Mill and Reynolds Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., on Friday night, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

The incident started with an armed carjacking in Kansas City, Mo., the spokesman said. The Kansas City, Kan., police joined to assist the Missouri officers about 9 p.m. Feb. 24, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle was in an accident at North Mill and Reynolds Avenue, where he fled the vehicle on foot, the spokesman said. The suspect exchanged gunfire with Kansas City, Mo., officers, according to the police spokesman.

The driver was later apprehended without further incident, the spokesman said, and two other passengers in the vehicle were taken into custody.

There were no injuries to anyone, according to police.

The police spokesman said the incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, which is asking anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
