Freezing temperatures today, warmer temperatures Sunday

Freezing temperatures open the weekend today, with a high of 33 expected in Wyandotte County.

The temperature was 24, with a wind chill reading of 17, at 8 a.m. Friday. Saturday should warm up to 46.

There is a chance for thunderstorms in the area on Monday, but no severe weather is expected, the weather service said.

Strong and gusty winds are possible Tuesday afternoon, which may lead to an elevated fire danger, according to the weather service.

Tonight, expect a low of 23 with partly cloudy skies, the weather service said. A calm wind will become south 5 to 9 mph after midnight.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 46, the weather service said. A south southwest wind of 10 to 18 mph may gust as high as 31 mph.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 32, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 6 to 11 mph will become west northwest after midnight.

Sunday, expect mostly sunny skies and a high near 52, the weather service said. A west northwest wind of 5 mph will become calm in the morning.

Sunday night, the low will be around 38 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 58, the weather service said.

Monday night, the low will be around 43 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, expect partly sunny skies with a high near 56, and it will be breezy, according to the weather service.

Tuesday night, the low will be around 25 with partly cloudy skies, and it will be blustery, the weather service said.

Wednesday, the high will be near 36 with partly sunny skies, according to the weather service.

Wednesday night, the low will be around 19 and there is a 40 percent chance of snow, the weather service said.
