The National Weather Service says there is a high fire danger Thursday and Friday in the region.

Relative humidity will drop to around 30 to 35 percent across an area roughly south and west of a Rock Port – Chillicothe – Boonville line, according to the weather service.

Northwest winds around 20 to 30 mph will combine with the dry conditions and dry fuels to bring high fire danger, the weather service said.

Friday will bring more dry conditions with southwest winds around 20 to 30 mph, and more high fire danger in the same areas, according to the weather service.

Outdoor burning is discouraged both days, the weather service said.

Today’s forecast is sunny with a high near 46, and a west northwest wind of 9 to 18 mph gusting as high as 31 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be clear with a low of 26, and a west wind of 5 to 10 mph, gusting to 18 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 54, the weather service said. A south southwest wind of 5 to 10 mph will increase to 11 to 16 mph in the afternoon, and winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Friday night, the low will be 34, with a south southwest wind of 7 to 14 mph, gusting to 26 mph, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 40, according to the weather service. A west southwest wind of 6 to 9 mph will become north in the afternoon.

Saturday night, New Year’s Eve, expect partly cloudy skies with a low of 24, the weather service said.

Sunday, New Year’s Day, expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 44, according to the weather service.

Sunday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain after midnight, the weather service said. The low will be 36.

Monday, expect a 50 percent chance of rain with a high near 48, according to the weather service.

Monday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before midnight, the weather service said. The low will be 28.

Tuesday’s high will be 33, with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 13, the weather service said.

Wednesday’s high will be near 24 with mostly sunny skies, according to the weather service.
