Light wintry mix possible Friday morning; isolated storms possible on Christmas

A wintry mix of freezing drizzle or light snow will be possible Friday morning north of Interstate 70, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will warm above freezing Friday afternoon changing frozen precipitation over to drizzle or light rain, the weather service said.

A few thunderstorms will be possible Christmas afternoon and evening, according to the weather service. An isolated severe storm capable of producing damaging winds will be possible across eastern Kansas and extreme western Missouri.

Today will see clear weather during the day, with partly sunny skies and a high near 46, according to the weather service. There will be a light and variable wind.

Tonight, patchy drizzle and snow is possible between midnight and 3 a.m., then a 30 percent chance of snow after 3 a.m., the weather service said. It will be cloudy with a low of 33. A calm wind will become southeast around 6 mph after midnight.

On Friday, there will be areas of drizzle, snow, freezing drizzle and sleet before 8 a.m., according to the weather service, then areas of drizzle, snow and sleet between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. After 9 a.m., there will be areas of drizzle. The weather service said the chance of precipitation is 40 percent, with new precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. The high will be near 41, with a south southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph.

Friday night, the low will be around 30, with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph will become calm after midnight.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 46, the weather service said. The wind will be calm, then changing to south southeast 5 to 7 mph in t morning.

On Saturday night, Christmas Eve, there will be patchy drizzle before midnight, then a 50 percent chance of showers after midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 42. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is forecast.

On Sunday, Christmas Day, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, the weather service said. The high will be near 61, and it will be breezy.

Sunday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 33, and it will be breezy.

Monday, it will be sunny with a high near 40, the weather service said. Monday night, the low will be around 22.

Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high of 39, according to the weather service.
