KCK student nominated to U.S. Military Academy

Emmett Lockridge of Kansas City, Kan., has been nominated to the U.S. Military Academy in WestPoint, N.Y.

U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist., announced his list of appointments recently.

Lockridge was one of 27 area students nominated to military academies. The others were from outside Wyandotte County.

The Third District’s Academy Nomination Board, appointed by Rep. Yoder, interviewed applicants after revising their nominations. Applicants must now meet the requirements of the academies to be considered for appointment. Ultimately, the academies make the final decision on who is accepted.

Rep. Yoder will begin accepting applications for the 2018 Academy class on May 1, 2017. The application deadline is Oct. 1, 2017. For more information on the application process or to receive an U.S. Service Academy Nomination Application packet, contact Susan Metsker in Rep.
