A Kansas City, Kan., man died in a crash on I-635 just north of State Avenue on Thursday evening, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.
The crash happened about 10:05 p.m. Oct. 20, the report stated.
Larry D. Johnson, 64, of Kansas City, Kan., was taken to a hospital, where he later was pronounced dead, according to the trooper’s report.
Johnson was driving a Chevy Malibu that was northbound on I-635 when for unknown reasons the driver lost control, the trooper’s report stated. The Malibu swerved left, striking a Chevy Tracker that was northbound in another lane.
The impact pushed both vehicles into the center median wall, the trooper’s report stated.
Johnson was not wearing a safety restraint, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Chevy Tracker, a 46-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, had a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated.
