Michael Jones and Heather Jones, charged with first-degree murder and child abuse, have waived their preliminary hearings, according to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office.
They are charged in connection with the abuse and death of a 7-year-old child whose remains were discovered in November 2015.
Heather Jones waived her preliminary hearing on Sept. 20, and Michael Jones waived his preliminary hearing on Sept. 21. The previously scheduled preliminary hearing for Sept. 22 has been canceled.
Michael Jones is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7 in Division 5 in Wyandotte County District Court. Heather Jones is scheduled for a pretrial conference at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 17 in Division 5, according to a spokesman for the district attorney’s office.
