Police seek information toward solving homicides in KCK

Kansas City, Kan., police have made some progress in solving gun-related violent crimes, and are still looking for information from the community to solve 11 homicides.

According to a police spokesman, the number of homicides stands at 30 currently this year, with 11 still seeking active leads.

A spokesman said that detectives, task force officers, community policing officers and command staff, along with community members and the NAACP, went door-to-door in the community to generate leads on the recent events.

The police special operations unit also conducted warrant sweeps in violent crime areas and neighborhoods in an attempt to apprehend some violent individuals, the spokesman said.

Police listed current homicides for which they are seeking additional information:

#10- Cedric Fields homicide from April 6 at North 5th and Rowland Avenue.
#11- Joseph Lucas II homicide from April 28 at 853 Tauromee Ave.
#14- Ramon Minjares-Garcia homicide from June 19 at South 18th Street and Central Avenue.
#18- Jacob Comstock homicide from July 17 at North 8th Street and Tenny Avenue.
#21- Tyrone Wilson homicide from July 25 at 400 Troup Ave.
#22- Andre Singleton homicide from Aug. 5 at 15 N. 10th St.
#23- Shannon Porter homicide from Aug. 20 at 50 Market St.
#24- Joshua Bush homicide from Aug. 22 at North 46th and Leavenworth Road.
#25- Natasha Hays homicide from Aug. 30 at 2400 block of North 9th Street.
#26- Kevin Gonzalez homicide from Aug. 31 at 100 block of South 12th Street.
