Temperatures and humidity values will increase today and linger until later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorm chances will return to the area Wednesday, with increasing chances through the latter half of the week, the weather service said.
Severe weather is possible across the northern parts of the region Wednesday.
Today’s forecast is sunny with a high near 89, and a heat index as high as 95, the weather service said. A south wind of 6 to 11 mph will increase to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
Tonight, the low will be around 75 with a south wind of 11 mph.
Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 91, and a heat index as high as 97, according to the weather service. A south wind of 10 to 16 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.
Tuesday night, expect a low of 76, with a south wind of 9 to 14 mph gusting to 18 mph, the weather service said.
Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., according to the weather service. The high will be near 90. A south southwest wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.
