Apparent drive-by shooting kills teenage girl

An apparent drive-by shooting at 6:33 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, in the 500 block of Freeman Drive has killed a teenage girl, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

The spokesman said officers responded to a shooting at the location and found the teenage girl dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation revealed that unknown suspects drove by and fired shots at the victim, striking her, the spokesman said.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until the family is notified.
