Bubble Run scheduled today
The Bubble Run, a 5K race, is scheduled at 8 a.m. and at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Kansas Speedway, 400 Speedway Blvd., Kansas City, Kan. There are waves of bubbles every three to five minutes. Every kilometer, participants run through foam bogs, where colored foam covers them. Learn sewing and quilting at the library
Sewing and quilting for beginners or for those who want to learn more will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the West Wyandotte Library, Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, conference room C, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan. The class is for adults, and for those ages 10 and older. There is a limit of 15. Advance registration is requested to the library, 913-596-5800. Those who register get priority.

Learn how marbles are made
A marble-making demonstration is scheduled from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Moon Marble Co. store, 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs. Today, star-spangled marbles are on display. Demonstrations begin around 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. and end at about 3 p.m., provided a glass artist is available. For more information, see www.moonmarble.com/.

Back-to-school clothing drive today at Legends
Legends Outlets Kansas City is joining with the United Way of Wyandotte County to collect donations for local students during a Back-to-School Clothing Drive from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30. The event will feature prize giveaways, refreshments and entertainment including a Sporting KC player appearance from 1 to 2 p.m., kids’ activities and much more. Donation items must be new and may include all sizes of khaki pants, jeans, polo shirts, socks, underwear and shoes, toiletry items including deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, and Legends gifts cards. Additionally, shoppers who donate at least one school-related item during the drive will receive an entry into a grand prize drawing for one $500 Legends Outlets gift card. The clothing drive is on the west side of The Legends Outlets, between T-Rex Café and Books-A-Million at 1843 Village West Parkway.

Summer reading wrap-up parties planned
A summer reading wrap-up party is planned from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the West Wyandotte Library auditorium, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan. An interactive Rube Goldberg machine will be featured.
Another summer reading wrap-up party will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the South Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Kansas City, Kan., on the front grounds. Participants will cool off with a snow cone and watch a BMX stunt show.

Cabela’s schedules fly-fishing class
Cabela’s, 10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kan., has scheduled a free fly-fishing class from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Interested persons may meet at the Cabela’s Fly Shop and the class will go to the outdoor pond. The class is for beginners and experienced anglers.

Adult coloring time planned
Adult coloring is planned from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The program is in the first floor meeting room.

Author to speak at Main Library
Author Toriano Porter will speak from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library auditorium, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Porter is an author, journalist and motivational speaker from the St. Louis area. His books, “James Cool,” and “The Pride of Park Avenue,” are about coming of age in St. Louis.

Junior roller derby planned

The Junior Warriors, ages 8-17, will have a roller derby bout on Saturday, July 30, at Memorial Hall, 600 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kan. Live at Legends concert to be July 30
