Powerball jackpot climbs to $422 million

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after no ticket matched all numbers in the July 23 drawing. The estimated Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is $422 million, with a cash option of $291 million.

The Powerball jackpot has rolled 22 times since being hit May 7 in New Jersey, according to Kansas Lottery officials.

Thirty-three Kansas Lottery players have become millionaires playing Powerball or its predecessor, Lotto America, a spokesman said.

Players can choose to receive the Powerball jackpot in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or in one cash payment. If the winner chooses the single cash payment, he or she will receive a single cash payment, minus taxes.

Other jackpots:
• The estimated Hot Lotto jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing is $4.48 million.
• The Super Kansas Cash jackpot has rolled to an estimated $2.19 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.
• The Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $15 million for Tuesday’s drawing, with a cash option of $10.2 million.

The Kansas Lottery asked players to sign their tickets at the time of purchase and to play responsibly.
