Democrats to meet Saturday
The Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet Saturday, July 16, at the Dotte Spot Bar and Grill, 8123 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan. The breakfast begins at 8:15 a.m. with the program at 9:15 a.m. Democratic candidates in the Aug. 2 primary are invited to speak. Democrats are invited to attend. The cost for the breakfast is $10, or $6 for students and those on limited incomes. There is a $2 charge for coffee for those not purchasing breakfast. Reservations are requested by Thursday, July 14, to [email protected]. Reservations are important, but not necessary to attend.

Learn how marbles are made
A marble-making demonstration is scheduled from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Moon Marble Co. store, 600 E. Front St., Bonner Springs. Today, star-spangled marbles are on display. Demonstrations begin around 10 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. and end at about 3 p.m., provided a glass artist is available. For more information, see www.moonmarble.com/.

Movie to be shown at library
The West Wyandotte Library, 1737 N. 82nd, Kansas City, Kan., will show the movie, “Zootopia,” in the auditorium from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today. The movie will have a drive-in atmosphere with the first 20 children allowed to sit in a box car. Popcorn will be served. The event is free.

Spanish-singing lessons planned at library
Children may participate in a program to learn to sing Spanish songs from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 16 at the South Library, 3104 Strong Ave., Meeting Room B, Kansas City, Kan. This program is free.

Make a racquetball game
Children may attend a program from 1:30 p.m. to 3 pm. today to create their own racquetball game from a foam pool noodle, some netting and duct tape. The program is for ages 5 to 12 years old. All materials are provided. The event is at the Main Kansas City, Kan., Public Library, 625 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Advance registration is required to 913-279-2216. There is a limit of 20 in the class.

Cabela’s schedules fly-fishing class
Cabela’s, 10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kan., has scheduled a free fly-fishing class from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 16. Interested persons may meet at the Cabela’s Fly Shop and the class will go to the outdoor pond. The class is for beginners and experienced anglers.

Wyandotte County Fair to end today
The last day of the Wyandotte County Fair is today. Hours are noon to 10 p.m. July 16 at the fairgrounds, 13700 Polfer Road, Kansas City, Kan. The event includes a carnival, entertainment, contests, animal exhibits, food and more. Admission is free, and there is a $5 per car charge for parking. Today, there is a mud run scheduled at 7 p.m., with a separate fee. There is also a fee for carnival rides. Today’s events also include a pie contest, a free performance by the Kristy Dance Studio at 1 p.m., a free concert by Alan Thorne Gospel Music at 7 p.m., the 4-H Parade of Champions at 7 p.m. and many other events. Buzz Beach Ball concert scheduled today
The Buzz Beach Ball concert is scheduled July 16 and 17 at Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas City, Kan. Doors open at 2 p.m. Bands will start to play at 2:45 p.m. Parking will be at the Kansas Speedway. Bands on the program for Saturday, July 16, are Cage the Elephant, Fitz and the Tantrums, Bleachers, X Ambassadors, Violent Femmes, The Strumbellas, J. Roddy Walston and The Business, Bear Hands, Kitten, Hembree, The Moth and the Flame, and Brave the Spirit. On Sunday, July 17, scheduled to appear are Alabama Shakes, Glass Animals, Portugal. The Man, The Head and the Heart, Kaleo, Eagles of Death Metal, The Joy Formidable, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, Lewis Del Mar, Bleached, Run River North, and Cavo.
