Thunderstorms in region this weekend

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible today and Saturday along and south of Interstate 70, according to the National Weather Service.

Although organized severe weather is not anticipated, a few strong storms are possible, the weather service said.

The main threats would be gusty winds, up to 40 to 50 mph, and small hail, up to nickel size, according to the weather service.

The storms are not in the daytime forecast for Wyandotte County, but there is a 20 percent chance of storms and showers tonight, the weather service said.

Today, the high will be near 88, with a calm wind becoming northeast from 5 to 7 mph, according to the weather service.

Tonight, the low will be around 71, with a south southeast wind of 6 mph becoming calm in the evening, and the 20 percent chance of rain and storms.

Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 87, according to the weather service. An east southeast wind will be 3 to 7 mph.

Saturday night, the low will be around 71, with a south southeast wind of 6 to 10 mph, according to the weather service.

Sunday, the high will be near 89, with mostly sunny skies and a south southeast wind of 6 to 13 mph, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low around 72, according to the weather service.

More storms are possible beginning Monday night, according to the forecast.
