Live at the Legends summer concert to be July 2
Legends Outlets will again offer free outdoor entertainment through its Live at the Legends Summer Concert Series on Saturday evenings in June and July. Community fireworks event planned Sunday night at Pierson Park
A free public fireworks display sponsored by the Unified Government and Turner Recreation Commission is scheduled at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, July 3, at Pierson Park, 1800 S. 55th St., Kansas City, Kan. Workshop planned on garden insects

Bruce Hogle will present the class, and the host is the Wyandotte County Extension Master Gardeners. There is a fee of $5 payable at the door. KCK Women’s Chamber going to lunch challenge at Harvesters
The Kansas City, Kan., Women’s Chamber of Commerce will go to Harvesters for the Lunch Challenge on Wednesday, July 13. Those attending will participate in a team-building program to help work toward a common goal and raise awareness about hunger. The event will be about two hours long. Free workshop offered on ‘Take Control of Your Chronic Condition’
A free workshop for people with chronic diseases will start on Wednesday, July 13, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan. “Take Control of Your Chronic Condition” is a free 2.5-hour workshop held each week for six weeks, and will cover chronic disease self-management and diabetes self-management. The workshop will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Shepherd’s Center to hold Adventures in Learning program July 15
The Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kan., will hold an Adventures in Learning program on July 15 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3333 Wood Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The program begins with health screenings and fellowship at 9 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., a travelogue will be presented by Ed Shutt on Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Also from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Sheriff Don Ash will speak. From 11 a.m. to noon, Ed Shutt will present “History of Baseball, part 2.” Also from 11 a.m. to noon, the Rev.
