A flash flood watch is in effect in Wyandotte County from now through 4 a.m. July 4, according to the National Weather Service.
The watch area includes Wyandotte County and the surrounding area.
Several rounds of heavy rainfall can be expected this weekend, with the first one moving into the area early Saturday morning, and through the day, the weather service said.
Another round is expected to move into the area early Sunday morning.
In all, 3 to 5 inches of rain are possible in the area, the weather service said.
Widespread river and stream flooding with some flash flooding is likely, according to the weather service. Rain will taper off late Sunday afternoon and evening.
Residents are advised to monitor weather forecasts and be prepared to take action if necessary.
